Sample Datasets

The Data Library considers a dataset to be a collection of subdatasets and variables, variables are n-dimensional arrays of data with n one-dimensional independent variables describing those dimensions. Datasets, dependent variables, and independent variables all have metadata.

Examples

ssta - weekly global (lon, lat, time) sea surface temperature anomaly (SSTA) data, a single three dimensional virtual variable.
weekly - a dataset with five variables, one level up from the above.
NDVI - NDVI data -- classic GIS dataset (restricted) three dimensional, 1 km by 10 day resolution.
WRSI - WRSI data -- classic GIS dataset (projected) three dimensional, 8 km by 10 day resolution.
tercile prcp - seasonal precipitation forecasts (lon, lat, tercile class, start time, lead time), five dimensional with two time dimensions and a class dimension.
CMB T40 - five-dimensional (lat,lon,pressure,ensemble member,time also spectral,pressure,member,time) GCM ensemble with mix of file-stored and virtual variables
CMB T40 average - GCM ensemble average, virtual dataset derived from part of above
USGS HCDN - streamflow data set for the study of climate variations, example of station data
Public Data from COLA - a collection of model datasets on a COLA server, resides at COLA, indexed by THREDDS
THREDDS - a collection of data servers resides all over the internet using a variety of servers/software tied together by THREDDS
SIO ECCO - Model Runs for Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean (ECCO) a subset of our local collection which is maintained offsite using standard THREDDS/OpenDAP software
LDEO Climate Group - LDEO Climate Group, a subset of our local collection which is maintained by the LDEO Climate Group using Ingrid (IRI) software
